It’s Possible Book Signing

We are excited to share our newest children’s book—It’s Possible: The Story of Ronald McNair—will be released on January 24th! Written by award-winning children’s book author and Chattanooga native Rita Lorraine Hubbard and illustrated by Chase Walker, It’s Possible introduces young readers to Space Medal of Honor Recipient Ronald McNair and his journey to realizing a childhood dream.
Along with six other Space Shuttle Challenger crew members—Mission Commander Francis R. “Dick” Scobee, Teacher-in-Space Payload Specialist Christa McAuliffe, Payload Specialist Gregory Jarvis, Mission Specialist Judy Resnik, Mission Specialist Ellison Onizuka, and Pilot Mike Smith—Mission Specialist Ronald McNair was tragically killed on January 28, 1986, following the shuttle’s explosion 73 seconds after launch. All crew members were posthumously awarded the Space Medal of Honor in 2004 by former President George W. Bush. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Challenger Crew’s tragic loss.
About The Book
Ronald McNair grew up poor and Black in a leaky house in 1950s South Carolina. That didn’t stop him from dreaming big. He set his eyes on the stars and saw infinite possibilities.
From standing up to segregation at age nine to becoming a NASA astronaut, Ronald defied every boundary. He mastered physics, earned a black belt in karate, played the saxophone, and soared toward space…twice!
This inspiring biography shows young readers that with courage and will, anything is possible—no matter where they start.
