The team at The Heritage Center has worked hard to provide an experience for all types of visitors. Through both private and public events, The Heritage Center is sure to have an event for everyone!

Events Open To The General Public
National Medal of Honor Heritage Center Grand Opening
February 22, 2020
2 Aquarium Plaza in downtown Chattanooga
10am – Grand Opening Ceremony
Join us for the official Grand Opening Ceremony celebrating the 19,000 square foot facility featuring dynamic, life-sized displays telling the stories behind the Medal of Honor recipients and the six common character traits they exemplify: Patriotism, Citizenship, Courage, Integrity, Sacrifice and Commitment.
The ceremony will be open to the general public and will include appearances from Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger, Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke, along with Medal of Honor recipients and other distinguished guests.
1pm – Doors Officially Open
The doors of the Heritage Center will then officially be opened to the public at 1:00 p.m. Tickets will be available for purchase online. Special group and discount rates are available for veterans, students and civic organizations.
Private Events To Celebrate the Grand Opening
Prior to the Grand Opening, there will be a series of private, invite-only events for Medal of Honor recipients, military veterans, educators and major donors to the Heritage Center.
What to Expect on Opening Day
Unlike a traditional museum, the Heritage Center is being called a “living classroom,” where artifacts support the story but are not the story. Instead, the Heritage Center will deploy the latest technology for an engaging, interactive experience with visitors of all ages. In addition to the display areas, there will be classrooms available for visiting schools and organizations, along with a character education program and curriculum for the public school system based on the six character traits common to Medal of Honor Recipients.
In addition to its regular exhibits, there will be four-to-six changing exhibits at the Heritage Center each year. An app is also being developed to help educate those who wish to take a “deeper dive” into the stories behind the Medal of Honor recipients featured at the Heritage Center.
