About The Medal of Honor Heritage Center

Exploring recipients through what they left behind

The Charles H. Coolidge National Heritage Center takes care of over 6,000 objects that help tell the story of Medal of Honor recipients and fellow veterans from the Civil War forward. These objects are tangible reminders of the sacrifice of our men and women in arms. Please enjoy learning more about our collection.

Where Education Meets Inspiration

A key focus of the National Medal of Honor Heritage Center is education. We extend beyond the Heritage Center walls to help current and future generations locally and across our country find the relevance of the Medal of Honor in their own lives. Thanks to our dedicated staff and volunteers, we teach the common character traits that embody Medal of Honor recipients – Patriotism, Citizenship, Courage, Integrity, Sacrifice and Commitment. In doing so, we believe our youth – our future leaders – will learn to emulate these six character traits to make their lives and communities better.
