Come Join Us for a Special Event Honoring the 25th Remembrance of September 11, 2001

The Coolidge National Medal of Honor Heritage Center is partnering with the Chattanooga Scenic City Women’s Network and the Veteran and Military Affairs Department at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga to mark 25 years since the September 11 terrorist attacks with a series of special programs of remembrance and reflection that will be held throughout the day.

On Friday night, the Heritage Center will be hosting a special event at 5 PM inside the Heritage Center. Presented by Miller Industries, this special program will start with an open reception in our main gallery before guests will move to the gallery space for a unique fireside chat moderated by NewsChannel 9 anchor Josh Roe.

We are honored to have the following panelists for this fireside chat: Medal of Honor Recipient Leroy Petry — a Army solider who reported to Ranger School on September 11, 2001; General B.B. Bell (USA, Ret.), who was in the Washington DC on September 11, 2001; LTC John (JD) Lock (USA, Ret.), who was working for the Army Corp of Engineers in New York City on September 11 and oversaw the initial federal response team at ground zero; and Chris Judy, a high school student on September 11 who immediately tried to enlist in the Marines but was not allowed due to his age. He would eventually enlist after graduation and served multiple tours with the Marines Recon during the War on Terror.

The conversation will also look to the future on what they hope happens on the 50th remembrance of 9/11—and what we all can do to ensure future generations understand the Courage, Sacrifice and Commitment that emerged in the wake of this tragic day.
