Medal of Honor Recipient, Kyle Carpenter, paid a visit to Chattanooga and the National Medal of Honor Heritage Center on September 21, 2021. Students from area schools were invited to a very special education event hosted in the Johnson Education Room at the Heritage Center, led by Linda Mines (MOHHC Board Member & V.P. of Education), Ronald Harris (Event Sponsor BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee), and Hannah Sher (MOHHC Dir. of Education), and special guest Cpl Kyle Carpenter, USMC (Ret.). The hosts offered a question and answer session during the event where the students had the opportunity to ask Carpenter questions about his experiences and learn more about his heroic story.
The Celebration of Valor Luncheon was hosted on Tuesday, September 21 at the Chattanooga Convention Center. Carpenter, the youngest recipient of the Medal of Honor was the keynote speaker. Proceeds from the event support the National Medal of Honor Heritage Center and its ongoing efforts to implement the Congressional Medal of Honor Society’s Character Development Program in our area schools and “The Making of a Hero” book and curriculum in our local community centers. These and other Heritage Center’s educational programs are specially designed to reinforce the six character traits: Patriotism. Citizenship. Courage. Integrity. Sacrifice. Commitment.
