March 23, 2020

Press Releases

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Due to the public health concerns around the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the Charles H. Coolidge National Medal of Honor Heritage Center (Heritage Center) announced it will remain closed until further notice.  At the appropriate time, the Heritage Center will make an announcement on its plan to reopen the Heritage Center in accordance with recommendations from local health officials.

The public is encouraged to visit the Heritage Center’s website at or its Facebook page at to get the latest information and updates on the scheduled date to reopen the National Medal of Honor Heritage Center.

In addition, the Heritage Center plans to create a virtual learning environment where teachers and parents across Hamilton County, Tennessee and the country can find some hands-on learning activities that students and children can do at home as we all work together to navigate these uncertain times.  To learn more about the Heritage Center’s Adventures in Valor, please visit

We look forward to opening our doors as soon as it’s safe so the powerful stories told in our galleries can encourage, inspire and reassure families who are likely to feel shaken by these unprecedented times.
